چکیده

Biofacies and lithofacies analysis of one hundred ninety-two (192) ditch cutting rock samples from well x, onshore Niger Delta was carried out for the purpose paleoenvironmental reconstruction succession. The objectives were to identify units species foraminifera use both quantitave qualitative foraminiferal assemblage recognise benthonic biofacies integrate results delineation paleobathymetric settings sediments penetrated by x interval studied. prepared through wet-sieve with 63µm mesh sieve size, subsequently dry-sieve 250µm 500µm sizes. analyzed generate data sedimentological grain-size assemblages. provided associations, sand/shale ratio sorting/gradational profile studied intervals well-x while micropaleontological identified a total ninety-three (93) preserved which three (3) associations delineated. include: Ammonia beccarii, beccarii/Bolivina scalprata miocenica, Haplophragmoides compressa/ Valvulina flexilis indicating Shallow Inner Neritic, Inner- Middle Outer Neritic – Upper Bathyal paleoenvironment respectively. result indicated penetration into Agbada Formation delta deposition within shallow deep marine settings, predominantly as channels, intercalated overbank distal bar/bay deposits. Synthesis stratigraphic development between coastal deltaic upper bathyal paleowater depths.

Evaluation of Geopressure Regime in an Onshore Niger Delta Field of Nigeria

Geopressure evaluation or prediction is an important exercise that must be carefully estimated when planning a drilling campaign. Formations of high pressure regime can be experienced in several areas within the bore hole depths. Being unaware of these areas that experience high pressure regime can create many uncontrolled events such as blow outs that may lead to human and material loss within...

Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction of Miocene Surma Succession in the Well Rashidpur # 04 of Bengal Basin Using Log Facies Interpretation

Detailed log facies studies of Miocene succession in the well Rashidpur-04, Rashidpur structure, Surma Basin were carried out by integrating wireline log and limited core sample data in order to reconstruct the paleoenvironments of deposition. Based on the analysis of the log motifs, grain size, sand/shale ratio and major change in gamma ray log motifs, two major depositional sequences were ide...
